✨ To My Favorite Sister ✨

It still amazes me that the same sister who spent half our childhood torturing me — and let’s be honest, you were creative about it with that pinching thing you did — somehow became one of the greatest loves of my life. If someone had told me back then that the girl who perfected the art of psychological warfare would one day be my closest friend, I would’ve checked their forehead for a fever. But here we are.

Somewhere between childhood battles and adulthood, you turned into the steady one. The responsible one. The one who somehow inherited Mom’s patience, Mom’s strength, and Mom’s ability to raise children without resorting to duct tape or tranquilizers. You built a beautiful life — three amazing kids, and a husband who is basically the gold standard for fathers and husbands. Honestly, you married the kind of man I wish I could have been for my children.

And through it all, you were there for me. Even when I wasn’t always there for you. Even when I got lost in my own storms. Even when I forgot birthdays, showed up late, or disappeared into my own nonsense. You never held it against me. You just loved me, your flawed, stubborn, occasionally clueless brother.

I want to talk about Bob, too. I like to imagine he’s reading this over my shoulder, shaking his head, and saying, “You two still haven’t grown up, have you?” His passing left a hole in all of us, but I carried him with me. The three of us were a team. And even now, I feel him close.

And Diane… you know as well as I do that Bob would absolutely be laughing at this. He’d probably say something like, “Well, at least he finally admitted she was the smart one.” And he’d be right.

As my time in this world ends, I want you to remember this: you were one of the best parts of my life. You were my anchor, my laughter, my reminder that family can survive anything, even childhood warfare. You were the one who kept the family glue from drying out. You were the one who showed up, stood strong, and loved without conditions.

I loved you more than I ever said out loud. And I hope these words carry that truth long after I’m gone.

Take care of yourself, Sis. Keep loving fiercely. And know that wherever I am, I’m with you, probably laughing, probably teasing, and definitely grateful.

Love you,

From the start, sincerity lived in you a warmth that settles rooms, a steadiness that lifts others, a grace that never needs to announce itself.
